Wholly Iowa Youth Leadership Discipling Event (WIYLDE) is a ministry and leadership workshop for high school youth of ELCA congregations in Iowa and is supported by all three ELCA Iowa synods. Dates for WIYLDE 2014 are July 21-26. (First year WIYLDE students will arrive on July 22)
WIYLDE is designed for youth, grades 9-12 of any ELCA congregation in Iowa. It is a youth ministry leadership workshop with opportunities for young people to grow in their own faith and take tools back to their home congregations to provide leadership in the youth ministry program. Each participant will learn:
- How to help plan and lead worship
- How to lead a Bible study
- Where to find youth ministry materials
- How to help organize youth events
Students may participate for 4 years, building on their leadership skills each year.
Registration: Early bird registration for 2014 is $375, if registered by June 20, 2014. After June 20, the fee increases to $425. The Northeastern Iowa and Southeastern Iowa ELCA synods are offering the following: For youth who register in time for the “early bird discount” of $375.00 the Synod will match the congregation’s scholarship 1:1 up to $150 per youth. For youth who register after the “early bird discount” and pay $425.00 the synod will match the congregation’s scholarship 0.5:1 up to $75 per youth. Congregational support is vital in receiving the match from the synod.
