Pastor Dan Kuckuck to join the Office of the Bishop in the role of Assistant to the Bishop for Leadership and Congregational Transitions

Pastor Dan Kuckuck has accepted the call and will begin serving in this new role on May 10, 2021.

The Assistant to the Bishop for Leadership and Congregational Transitions will manage the areas of mobility and call process, rostered minister leadership, wellness, and support, provide leadership and support for synod youth ministries, and clergy coaching. These duties include

  • Call process and congregation transitions including interim and contract ministry.
  • Continuing education, wellness, training, and coaching for rostered ministers.
  • Leadership and support for the synod youth ministry network and youth ministries.

As Assistant to the Bishop, Pastor Kuckuck will also be visiting and accompanying congregations of the Southeastern Iowa synod.

In sharing the news, Bishop Amy Current said, “I am delighted to welcome Pastor Kuckuck. His passion for leadership, coaching, and wholeness of rostered ministers and congregations will be an asset for our whole synod. His experience, gifts, and skills will be a wonderful addition to our synod team.”

Pastor Kuckuck has served at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale since 2013. He has also served on many synod committees and as a synod dean. He is a trained ELCA Coach and has also served as a consultant with LEAD, a coaching and consulting ministry.
