Love Like Jesus is a service leadership event for high school youth June 16-19, 2016 in Des Moines sponsored by The Southeastern Iowa Synod and Grand View University. Love like Jesus will engage youth who have completed 8th – 12th grade at the end of this school year and adult advisors in leadership development, bible study, service outreach, worship and TONS of fun for $150 per person. Register now and pay a deposit of $50 per person.
The registration fee for the event includes lodging (dorm rooms), program and meals beginning Thursday evening through Sunday breakfast. We ask that there is at least one adult for every six youth. The Parental Consent Form (found below) must be filled out for each youth participating.
Love Like Jesus Welcomes: Rachel Kurtz
Artist is Residence for the event.
Rachel Kurtz is a Minneapolis-based songwriter, performer and recording artist. Churches across the country have discovered Rachel’s powerhouse voice and joyful presence thanks to her relentless touring schedule, and her featured appearances on the main stage of recent national youth gathering. In addition to her music leadership at conventions and congregations, Rachel is also an in-demand retreat facilitator and keynote speaker at youth weekends, women’s retreats and many times at Sunday morning worship.
Additional highlights include:
- Friday will be the Love Like Jesus University – a day in which participants will experience three sessions that provide integrated hands-on learning in art, music, drama, recreation, sports, theology and more!
- Saturday will be the Love Like Jesus Service Day – when participants will connect with and serve alongside local congregations, agencies and institutions to be the love of Christ in the greater Des Moines community.
The weekend will also include large group activities, small group discussions, youth worker training, time to nurture congregational relationships, and meaningful worship.
