Youth Leadership Team Being Developed

The Lutheran Youth Organization of the Southeastern Iowa Synod has been thinking and praying about the vision and purpose of the organization, especially as it relates to the LYO Board. This discernment period has been focused on how we live out shared ministry among young people in the church, especially through the expressions of local congregations and the synod.

Because of an outdated constitution and job descriptions for board officers and conference reps, a clean slate was provided for some new thinking about youth ministry on a synodical level. Good questions came to the surface. What’s God calling us to be and do as an LYO Board? What changes are necessary for us to live into our calling at this time?

What bloomed from those questions is a brand new way to foster youth leadership in the congregation, the synod and beyond.

The Southeastern Iowa Synod Youth Leadership Team pulls together high school youth from across the synod who want to explore leadership skills and faith formation…all for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their local community. Rostered Leaders, Youth Workers and others are invited to recommend at least one youth from there congregation who shows interest in faith formation and leadership development.
