The Southeastern Iowa Synod Youth Leader Network is a place to share ideas and resources to enhance various ministries in congregations, conferences, and throughout the synod. Whether you are full-time, part-time, a rostered leader, or volunteer, we welcome everyone who has a passion to walk with young people in God’s mission for the sake of the world! Be watching for events and online resources. The center of communication for the network will be on Facebook and the synod website. Contact Pr. Eric Carlson ( email@example.com ) for more information.
Equipping Youth Ministry Leaders
Equipping Youth Ministry Leaders training events are available to all adults who work with youth in your congregations. These events are a mix of “face-to-face” trainings, as well as online webinars that you and your other youth ministry leaders can participate in at home.
Youth Ministry Events as Faith Formation: Processing Events and Connecting To Daily Life
This training was part of the SE Iowa Synod High School Gathering held April 14-15. Adults can join in for just the training if they are not attending the gathering. For those attending the gathering, students will be well supervised during the adult training!
If you weren’t able to attend the Spring or Fall, Equipping Youth Ministry Leaders Training, you can watch them online. These presentations were recorded in March, 2011, and the presenters are part of the team that developed these trainings for the ELCA. The training comes in two parts. Simply click on the following links.
- Opportunity or Despair: Youth Ministry at the Crossroads by Dr. Terri Elton, Luther Seminary-St. Paul, Minnesota
- Youth Ministry Events as Faith Formation: Part 1 by Shivon Miller, Trinity Lutheran Church-Duluth, Minnesota
Online webinars are opportunities to gather with other adult Children, Youth and Family leaders in an online environment and to learn together about effective ministry with young people. You can register for upcoming webinars, or download recent events. Click here for all the information.
